Founder & Creative Director
James Barnes is an artist, technologist, and entrepreneur dedicated to expanding the boundaries of human imagination through interactive art. As the founder of ETHEREA, he's pioneering a new form of collective creativity that transforms spoken words and music into living, breathing visual worlds. His work combines cutting-edge AI technology with immersive art installations to create spaces where imagination flows freely.
Through ETHEREA's Imagination Engine, James has developed groundbreaking systems that enable real-time translation of human creativity into mesmerizing visual experiences. His installations have captivated thousands, with participants spending hours exploring the depths of their imagination through voice-activated art creation.
James' vision for ETHEREA emerged from years of exploration at the intersection of technology and creative expression. His work has been featured in major festivals and venues, where he's demonstrated the transformative power of combining human imagination with artificial intelligence. In 2022, his collaboration with Midjourney resulted in a landmark installation at Washington Square Park, projecting over one million pieces of AI-generated art in support of Ukraine.
Prior to founding ETHEREA, James served as the first Product Manager for Election Integrity at Facebook, where he led the development of AI-powered systems that protected billions of users globally. He later founded Autobiographer, a venture-backed AI storytelling platform, raising $5M from prominent investors including Betaworks, SV Angel, and Third Prime.
Today, James is focused on expanding ETHEREA's reach through permanent installations, festival partnerships, and a 24/7 streaming platform that brings collective imagination to audiences worldwide. His unique combination of technical expertise and artistic vision continues to push the boundaries of what's possible when human creativity meets artificial intelligence.

Music Director
Mendeleyev is a baritone Singer/Songwriter/Producer based in Los Angeles. Ben Harper's opening act for his fall 2023 tour. Appearing on Season 17 of NBC's The Voice on John Legend's Team, his low booming voice got all 4 coaches to turn their chairs. Recently opening for/collaborating with Jackson Browne and Madison Cunningham, he also headlined the 4th of July at The Rose Bowl Stadium, singing for 30,000 people. Mendeleyev grew up with a close relationship to Ram Dass and sang at his Memorial. Highly influenced by a variety of legends with a vocal combination of Johnny cash and Van Morrison, moving lyrical content of Bob Dylan, and the fingerpicking style of John Mayer, he has a fresh and folky yet funky take on any Genre, from acoustic to EDM.
